Gigantomania heritage / Наследие гигантомании

The People’s Friendship Arch dedicated to the unification of Russia and Ukraine (was constructed in 1982). It is a huge, 50 metres in diameter, rainbow-shaped arch, made of titanium.
Today is May Day and it’s a public holiday. May Day is synonymous with International Workers’ Day, or Labour Day. The earliest May Day celebrations appeared in pre-Christian Europe, with the festival of Flora the Roman Goddess of flowers, the Walpurgis Night celebrations of the Germanic countries.
