В продолжение «свинской» темы. Жители Позняков хорошо знают это уникальное место между ул григоренко и ул урловская. В какой-нибудь советской книге было бы сказано что-то вроде: «Чудом уцелевший островок народного быта, в борьбе с капитализмом выживающий в условиях мегаполиса».

Despite that astronomical year of 2009 started on March 20, 11:44am at the point of vernal equinox, the sun is still hiding behind the clouds.
By the way, 20th of March is renown in Ukrainian history with the election of Michael Hrushevsky, the historian, as the Head of Central Rada in 1917, and more widely as the day when after escaping from Elba, Napoleon entered Paris with a regular army of 140,000 and a volunteer force of around 200,000, beginning his “Hundred Days” rule. That day (though of another year :)) Albert Einstein published his general theory of relativity.
Not a bad day. Keep on waiting for the sun…

Несмотря на то, что весеннее равноденствие состоялось 20 марта в 11:44 и его считают астрономическим началом соимённого времени года, солнышко по-прежнему с трудом протискивает к нам лучики. Кстати, этот день (не сегодня, а все же 20 марта) отметился в истории Украины тем, что в 1917 году историк Михаил Грушевский избран председателем Центральной Рады, а в 1915 Наполеон Бонапарт вернулся в Париж после заточения на острове Эльба и началось правление «ста дней». И Альберт Эйнштейн представил миру теорию относительности в 1926. Хороший вроде был день. Продолжаем ждать весну.

Difficult to believe that this building across the road from the Opera House had a chief architect, well, maybe it was one of his nightmares. It was erected in 1970s as the home for Ph.D.’s. Nevertheless, these days a square meter of this “property” is worth six thousand baracks (previously called bucks). I doubt it is because one could then enjoy the plays from the House opposite.
Тяжело поверить, но в этом  кошмарном сне архитектора (прямо напротив Национальной оперы), квадратный метр потолка стоит 6 тыс баракабамовских денег! Сильно сомневаюсь, что за эти деньги можно не то чтобы услышать пані Стеф’юк, а даже вряд ли разглядеть репертуар у дверей.
